Government announces 100 percent waiver on HELB loan penalties

Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed announced on Thursday, May 3,100% waiver on Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) penalties. Amina said the waiver will be applicable until June 30, 2018, in an effort to boost loan repayments.

The education CS made the announcement during the launch of the HELB employers’ portal as reported by The Standard. “As an incentive to all past HELB loan beneficiaries, I hereby grant a 100% penalty waiver to all defaulters who will repay their loans in one lump sum between Thursday, May 3, and June 30, 2018,” she said.
